FAQ

Below are answers to some common questions. Please feel free to contact us if your question is not answered below.

General

What payment methods do you accept?  (+/-)

A: A check or money order is the only method of payment accepted for all orders. If paying by a check or money order, we must receive it prior to your order, and if paying with a check, the check must be cleared before the order is produced.

If you require a term payment option, please request a credit application and we will gladly provide the appropriate credit line.

How do I get my files to you?  (+/-)

A: You can:
1. upload your artwork on our File Upload page
2. e-mail us at artwork@printingxp.com
3. send us your CD/DVD (click here for our mailing address)

Technical

What is a bleed?  (+/-)

A: Bleed is basically an image or graphic that extends beyond the trim lines of a printed piece. To have image printed all the way to the edge of the paper, the respective image must protrude a minimum 1/8 of an inch beyond the trim guidelines of your artwork file to ensure that discrepancies in print production (i.e. cutting) do not leave a white "border" near the edge.

What print process do you use?  (+/-)

A: All of our conventional print jobs are produced via sheetfed offset printing press (aka “Offset Lithography”). This process involves a transfer of ink on a printing plate to a blanket, which then transfers or “offsets” the image to a sheet of paper.

Does white count as a color?  (+/-)

A: No. White is actually the underlying color of the paper. Since all of the Economy jobs are run on white stock, any white image or type is the color of the stock. Although it is possible to print in opaque white ink, the process is usually reserved for special custom order circumstances and can be substantially expensive since multiple ink washes as well as double-hits of the ink are necessary.

Do you offer any finishing or bindery?  (+/-)

A: Yes, we are a full-service printing company that specializes in custom printing solutions. Our reps will provide consultation on all finishing and bindery processes including but not limited to foiling, embossing, die-cutting, and converting.

What types of proofs do you offer?  (+/-)

A: To readily meet our fast turnaround times, the default method for proofing is via PDF file. Your artwork will be converted to a PDF file by our prepress department and e-mailed to you (in low-resolution) so that you can check for accuracy in content and copy. The PDF file is not intended for checking color accuracy. For color-sensitive jobs, we offer an Epson 9000 color-calibrated proof, at an additional cost, that is specially calibrated to match our printing presses. The cost of the proof varies with the size of the piece so please check our Pricing to inquire about purchasing a proof.

Can you match to a proof I made from my desktop printer?  (+/-)

A: No. For color accuracy, please inquire about our color-calibrated proofs. This is the best way to evaluate the color before the job goes into production.
